The life of Catherine of Siena, a mystic, visionary and prophetess, strikes the imagination. A courageous woman who spoke her mind, truly remarkable in her mystic experiences, she was especially attentive to all the questions - political, social, ecclesial and domestic - of her times. During her short life, she felt a constant desire to devote her existence to man's salvation, the health and the missionary vitality of the Church. Marie-Vincent Bernadot's book offers readers an excellent initiation to the experience and the mission of Saint Catherine of Siena, by presenting her acts as well as a direct reading of her works, which are generously quoted: the ‘Dialogue', her abundant correspondence and her ‘Orations' all bear witness to an authentic intimacy with Christ. We can understand why this daughter of Saint Dominic was declared doctor of the Church by Pope Paul VI.
