A recent event has left its mark on the studies of Eckhart : the identification by Georg Steer of Eckhart's Sermons 101 -104 his cycle on the birth of God in the soul. Not only are these the only sermons he actually wrote (the others are notes taken by listeners), they also reveal that the heart of Eckhart's work is lodged in the birth of God in the soul, and not in detachment, as has often been claimed. Moreover, these sermons permit us to perceive the chronology of Eckhart's work because they demonstrate that right from the early years, the time of Erfurt, the reflection on divine filiation was at the centre of his thought. These different points of interest, as well as their echo in the work of Nicolas de Cues, are debated in this book, written by specialists of Eckhart and Nicolas de Cues.
