Thérèse de Lisieux discovered a unique path to the love of the Father. Her manuscripts reveal a discreet insistence on a paternity, fragile yet persistent. But in many ways, the doubt that took hold of the young woman during her illness is the reverse side of her admiration - not the opposite, or a sort of interference. It is more like an ordeal, the price to pay for authenticity. Seen in that perspective, Therese's last days no longer appear to be a chronicle of edifying agony. At another level, they pose the question of Therese's death, a possible "feminine" death.
