La réponse de Maurice Zundel est positive : croire que l'homme est capable de dépassement, de respect de l'autre, de don de soi, serait-ce au péril de sa vie croire qu'autrui a une valeur infiniment plus grande que l'aide qu'on peut lui apporter. Sur le chemin de l'accomplissement de soi, l'homme, alors, rencontre Dieu et découvre cette simple évidence : Dieu, lui, croit en l'homme.
