Sexuality is endlessly discussed, yet one aspect has been neglected. Although the subject is a promising one, its metaphysical signification is rarely explored. A mystery emerges from the depth of the love between man and woman, in their mutual gift of the self, in the accomplishment of their unity. Source of our lives. How far must we go to enter into the intelligence of that marvel? Couldn't the solution to that mystery, which is basically human love, give fuller meaning to the equality of sexes and their complementarity? This essay by a philosopher, rather than a sexologist, explores these questions in the light of common experience confronted with the Judeo-Christian revelation.
