The original thing about this book is the approach the author has used: he doesn't try to reconstruct Christianity starting out from the New Testament, but to measure the distance covered starting from today's Christian life by Tradition, in order to find the facts. Heedful of institutions, the book is built around the following themes : - The Eucharist today - Judaism in Jesus' time - The formation of the Gospels and the study of related documents (Josephe Slavon) - The main elements of the credo. Where do they come from? The author, a Dominican, teaches ancient Judaism at the Ecole Bibilique et Archéologique in Jerusalem. With Justin Taylor, he published an Essay on the origins of Christianity in 1998.
