Partis de deux modes de pensée — et de deux courants intellectuels chrétiens — fort distants, Jacques Maritain et Henri de Lubac, après avoir convergé progressivement et ponctuellement sur un certain nombre de positions doctrinales et d'options morales, ont donc fini par se rencontrer par le fond en cela même qui tenait le plus à coeur dans leur quête de sagesse à ces deux apôtres de la modernité : le mystère de l'Église comme don de grâce proposé par Dieu à tout homme venant en ce monde.

With different patterns of thinking— and coming from two quite distinct Christian intellectual currents, Jacques Maritain and Henri de Lubac, occasionally and progressively converged on a certain number of doctrinal positions and moral options. These two apostles of modernity ultimately met at the crossing of those things they held most dear in their quest for wisdom: the mystery of the Church as a gift of grace offered by God to all men born into this world.
