Ordained priest in Lyons at the age of 24, Antoine Chevrier was thirty when he decided to devote his life and his ministry to the service of the poor. His wish was to proclaim the Gospel to the most unfortunate among us. To succeed in this mission, he responded strictly and completely to Christ's call: ‘Come, follow me.' He aimed to be ‘a priest according to the Gospel, True Disciple of Our Lord Jesus Christ'. He also hoped to find companions so as not to embark on this path of evangelical poverty alone that is why he founded the Prado in 1869. As this biography reveals, Antoine Chevrier died in 1879, at the age of 53, having lived a discreet life of incessant inner consistency. His cautious, firm perseverance was the fruit of his unconditional devotion to Jesus Christ.
